Local Staff (m/f/d) Defence Section

The Defence Section at the Danish Embassy in Berlin is looking to fill a full-time local staff position, starting 2.1.2025.

The section consists of a Defence Attaché (brigadier general), who is deployed by the Danish Ministry of Defence, a local staff employee, and an intern.

The department represents the Danish Ministry of Defence in Germany and maintains contact with the German Ministry of Defence. It coordinates bilateral Danish-German defines and security policy cooperation from the political to the operational level.

Tasks:

  • Central point of contact for incoming enquiries and office manager
  • Support for the Defence Attaché at meetings and events
  • Reports for the Danish Ministry of Defence on defines and security policy and the German armed forces
  • Supporting the Danish armed forces with contact and information in all areas of bilateral cooperation, e.g. training and exercises
  • Supporting the Danish armed forces in obtaining diplomatic clearances for military transports
  • Support for the Danish defines industry. Co-operation with the Trade Council Department of the Embassy.

We are looking for someone who enjoys making contacts and maintaining the network that already exists at the embassy and in Berlin and Germany.

Good communication and coordination skills and a sound knowledge of the political/social systems in both countries are ideal. Expertise in the field of security and defines policy and possibly the military would be an advantage.

Requirements: 

  • Completed studies or relevant education with a focus on politics, the military or business
  • Good organisational and communication skills, initial experience in office organisation
  • Knowledge and/or experience of German political and social environments, in particular the defence or security sector. Possibly also defence industry and/or military.
  • You speak and write fluent German, and have a good command of English. Strong proficiency in Danish or one of the other Scandinavian languages is definitely an advantage.
